Overall, member attire must follow the traditions of Rhode Island Country Club. The Dress Code is strictly enforced, and proper attire is expected of all adult and junior members and guests, and of their children.
In the main Clubhouse and the outdoor dining areas:

Men’s shirts must have a collar, and be worn tucked into the waist, though turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks are acceptable.
- Men’s shirts with a square bottom, which are designed to be worn untucked (such as Untuckit or Hawaiian shirts) may be worn untucked.
- Golf shirts must always be tucked in.
- Denim may be worn throughout the clubhouse and on the terrace. Denim is not allowed in the Dining Room, if it is set up for formal dining. Appropriate denim includes clean, appropriately sized pants and skirts, without holes, rips, fraying, or excessive wear.
- Jackets are required for gentlemen in the Dining Room on Saturday evenings if it is set up for formal dining.
- Men must remove their hats and visors indoors. In all other areas of the club, hats and visors must be worn bill-forward.
- Examples of inappropriate attire: Men’s crewnecks, tank tops, sleeveless, collarless, or v-neck shirts. Running, tennis, or swimming shorts, cargo pants or shorts, cutoffs, and sweatpants. Denim shorts, overalls, painter’s pants, or any denim that is highly worn.
On the golf course and the driving range:
- Appropriate attire includes: golf slacks, skirts, shorts, or dresses, none of which may be worn more than four inches above the knee.
- Golf-specific shirts or blouses are appropriate.
- Men’s shirts must have a collar and sleeves and be tucked into the waist.
- Ladies’ shirts or dresses may be sleeveless or collarless, as long as they are golf specific.
- If a member has a question as to whether their clothing is appropriate, seek guidance from a member of the golf staff.
- Denim is never appropriate on the golf course or driving range.
- As determined by the Golf Shop Staff, anyone who is inappropriately attired will be asked to comply with the dress code policy or leave the Club grounds.
Downstairs in the clubhouse (locker rooms, fitness area, squash courts, and areas in between), tennis and paddle courts, and pool area:
- Athletic attire may be worn in these areas, as well as between one’s car and these areas. It may not be worn upstairs in the clubhouse, on the terrace or on the porches.
- Bathing suits may be worn in the pool area only.
